  • Feste und Feiern | Verein LOK

Festivals and celebrations have been important events since the club's inception. People who often know little about each other meet. The festival offers the opportunity to learn more about one another. Often, no conversation is even necessary. Seeing each other, dancing together, laughing together – spontaneous and emotional interaction is allowed and encouraged at the celebration. Every 5-10 years, there are special annual celebrations marking the founding of the LOK association, its residential communities, and employment projects. The LOK Ball has been a major event for years, celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2020. Not only clients of the LOK association, but also clients of all support organizations in Vienna are invited to this grand celebration. Even those not receiving support services attend this successful party, which attracts up to 800 people . Since its inception, companies and individuals have financially supported the ball, making it possible. Guests are consistently delighted by the fantastic musical program. > Archive LOK Balls The Psyennale was first held in 2009, the 20th anniversary of the association, at the suggestion of clients. The film week was organized jointly by clients and staff in cooperation with the Top Kino cinema. The selection of films aimed to present a diverse picture of people in various states of mental distress. It addressed coping with everyday life, conflicts with their environment, and the questions: What is healthy? What is illness? The goal was to offer a different perspective on the topic of "mental illness" and thus contribute to destigmatization. The film week was repeated in 2012, 2015, and 2017, with 2017 being the last time to date. > Archive Psyennale

Open dialogue / "There is no single truth, and everyone is an expert" – Open dialogue within the LOK association The LOK association uses, among other methods, the Open Dialogue approach. This involves a type of dialogue in which all voices are heard and considered equal. This broadens perspectives and opens up diverse possibilities for action. The so-called network dialogue is about transparency and listening to different voices and perspectives in the moment. There is no judgment or know-it-all attitude; rather, the goal is to find a common language. The network dialogue is moderated by trained individuals. The aim is to listen respectfully to the feelings, needs, and viewpoints of all participants and to develop and implement solutions together through dialogue. Networking discussions can be helpful In difficult decisions/crises To help express different viewpoints When situations seem deadlocked The network Consists of invited participants who can be helpful to the discussion. It is understood as a network of relationships These could be family, friends, or caregivers. Two moderators Support the network in getting into conversation. Pay attention to balance in the speeches. Provide feelings and thoughts

  • Zitate Klientinnen | Verein LOK

"When I joined the neighborhood circle, my goal was to expand my social circle—and I succeeded. I met new people, and I have since become good friends with some of them. I also learned to trust others again, and as a result, I have become more independent." People from the neighborhood come together to be there for one another. In doing so, they draw upon their own unique talents and skills. Each individual participant brings their own specific needs—for which they seek support—while simultaneously offering their own competencies to others within the neighborhood circle. Drawing on their lived experience, the participants act as experts in their own right. In this way, they can expand their personal networks and become less dependent on professional care services. A core element of the *Grätzelkreis* (Neighborhood Circle) is experiencing the group as a safe space—a place where, through shared reflection and action, both the group as a whole and each individual member can grow. If you have a need for support and, at the same time, wish to share your own talents and skills with others, the *Grätzelkreis* is the place for you. We meet as a group once a week to discuss interesting topics, spend time together, and assist one another with personal matters. Beyond these group activities, individual members are free—based on their own interests—to exchange phone numbers and arrange to meet up with other participants from the circle. This fosters new acquaintances and, perhaps, even lasting friendships. The *Grätzelkreis* is professionally facilitated by staff members from the association LOK and is a collaborative project undertaken in partnership with our Dutch sister organization, Pameijer. If we have sparked your interest, please feel free to get in touch. KONTAKT –––––– Werner Fink T +43 664 60 141 308 graetzelkreis@lok.at
