Coffeehouse

The pen is sharp,

the page still white.

My thoughts rhyme

what I know.

I sit in the coffeehouse.

Alone, amidst the crowd.

And let myself be

exploited for my last penny.

The pen is sharp,

the page no longer white.

I’ll stop now—

that is the price.

My pockets are empty, and so is my heart;

the moment has come—the one I need so much.
