The Congress - under the auspices of Mrs. Sonja Wehsely, Town Councillor of Vienna, Health and Social Affairs

The international congress 'About the Bright Feigned Light of Integration - Handicapped People on the Fringe of the Achievement-Oriented Society' is organized by the Austrian association LOK - Leben ohne Krankenhaus (Living without Hospital) and will be held on 22 and 23 March 2007 at the Austria Center Vienna. A cultural framework programme will be offered during the congress.

 

Speakers

In addition to social scientists and experts in the field of mental health care, representatives of self-help organizations for handicapped people as well as political decision-makers will address the audience and present their views. An important aspect of the event is its international approach. It is not only intended to concentrate on the situation in Vienna and Austria but to deal with and discuss the developments and experiences gained throughout Europe. Speakers

The Association LOK - Leben ohne Krankenhaus (Living without Hospital) has been active in caring for handicapped persons (especially those with psychic disorders and mental health problems) for the past 15 years, helping them to cope with everyday life by providing various forms of housing and employment.
